RANI MUKHERJEE BRINGS ‘HADIPPA’ TO LONDON!
One of Bollywood’s most-loved actresses, Rani Mukherjee, arrived in the UK on Monday 14th September for an exclusive press conference of her latest film, Dil Bole Hadippa.
The intimate and exclusive gathering at the Courthouse Hotel in Central London, attended by the media, saw Rani Mukherjee speak in depth about her role in the film and her extraordinary journey in the Indian film industry so far.
The conversation, hosted by BBC Asian Network presenter, Bobby Friction, was one of the most frank, humorous and detailed discussions, offering an insight into Rani’s experiences of shooting for the film and playing a male character. It was followed by a Q&A session in which the media were invited to put forward their questions to Rani.
Due to be released worldwide on Friday 18th September, Dil Bole Hadippa is produced by Aditya Chopra, with debutant director Anurag Singh, and stars Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles.
The film tells the story of Veera (Rani Mukherjee), a young girl who pretends to be a man to fulfil her dreams of playing cricket in the big league. Set in a small village where girls don’t play cricket, Veera has to put on a turban and beard to join the all-male team. Her brilliance on the field earns her a place in Rohan’s (Shahid Kapoor) team and Veera Kaur becomes Veer Pratap Singh. And then, begins a roller-coaster journey of Veera, Rohan and Veer filled with music, romance and comedy through Punjab and beyond.
Talking about the film at the press conference, Rani said the film has all the things Bollywood has to offer including song, dance, emotion, drama, romance and comedy but me being a man is something new Bollywood has to offer. The subtle point of the film is if you dream and are passionate about what you want to be in life, you can go to any lengths to achieve that and that is what my character is about.

The cast and crew were in Toronto, Canada for the world premiere of Dil Bole Hadippa on Sunday 13th September. It was presented in the prestigious Gala Presentations section of the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2009.
