| Story | Working out of a cubbyhole of an office, with a telephone shared by one does not know how many, a young man Ajay (Amitabh Bachan), dreams of becoming rich, as his own boss. Not for him a salary paying job, a nine to five routine or being middle class forever. He has staked his everything on his small business and become rich he will. Just about then, he meets Aruna (Moushumi Chatterjee), the only daughter of a well to do barrister, and falls in love with her. To impress her Ajay resorts to a little lying. He tells her that he is a rich man. The fear that she would leave him on knowing the truth, prevents Ajay from telling the truth. But that he would be rich, will soon become reality. But fate has other ideas. He lands in court, accused of cheating and duping. Will Ajay become rich? Is he innocent of the crimes he is charged with? Will Ajay and Aruna come together? The latter half of the movie gives you these answers. |
