| Story | Little Mohan is left an orphan at an early age, but his elder brother ahyam takes care of him lovingly and between the two, there is great affection. In due course Shyam gets married and into the hitherto dull and dry house enters Geeta, the sister-in-law of young Mohan, who transforms it into a real home. Mohan finds a mother in her and his devotion to her knows no bounds. Once when he won a prize at school he bought nothing for himself but a pair of bangles for his sister-in-law. He grows up, takes a degree and becomes a College Professor, and all he can think of is to buy another pair of bangles (of gold) for his adored sister-in-law. Then Mohan too marries and trouble enter the happy house with the foolish bride. Mohan's young wife does not like her husband's affection to her elder brother's wife, she wants to make a separate home but Mohan refuses to part from his brother. Dissatisfaction continues ever after a baby arrives for Mohan. Mohan's wife does not like her baby to be fondle by Geeta because the unfortunate Bhabhi's children did not live and her evil look might do something to the child. All this Geeta silently suffers with a sympathetic husband and a loyal brother-in-law. She goes on doing her own duty with smiles. And then one day Mohan's child falls ill, its mother gets frightened and there is no recourse left for her but to accept Geeta Bhabhi's help/ This great and kind hearted lady forgets all the nasty things Mohan's young wife had said formerly, and rushes to the sick child's beside. So effectively does Geeta Bhabhi prove her selfless love, that though the child recovers, her exertion causes her own health to collapse. To late Mohan's wife realises causes her own health to collapse. Too late Mohan's wife realises Geeta Bhabhi's nobility. Geeta Bhabhi passes away, but grief stricken Mohan finds her bangles intact in the ashes of her funeral pyre. She was a Sadhwi. |
