| Story | Alok (Amitabh Bachchan) leaves his home as his father, Trilokiprasad (Om Prakash) cannot accept his deep interest in music. He leaves to pursue the career he loves and gets married to his lady love (Rekha) who belongs to a poor family. This irks his father even more. Alok develops tuberculosis and cannot contine singing. The couple sink into poverty. His father comes to take them home but encounters unexpected opposition... Jaidev's poignant classical tunes include South Indian singer K J Yesudas's playful 'Chand Akela' and soulful 'Koi Gaata Mai So Jaata'. Director Hrishikesh Mukherjee's story of music and passion has lyrics written by none other than Harvanshrai Bachchan and Rahi Masoom Raza. |
